Responsible for all technical activities, Strategies and Decisions. New product development and ECR's; Budget and Capex projects; Tender submissions; Design vailidations; ISO 9001. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS • A degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University in South Africa • Drawing Office Skills and the use of Solidworks and/or other CAD software • Quality Management to ISO9001, Environmental management to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 knowledge and skills • Rail industry knowledge would be advantageous. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • Optimise existing product designs to meet customer requirements, including material optimization • When necessary design new products in accordance with Company International standards • Arrange for prototypes to be manufactured and tested, both in the development and in the field • Responsible for controlling all drawings within the Company, including revisions and re-issuing of updated drawings in line with quality standards • Carry out projects as identified in the Engineering Meeting and as decided on by the Engineering/Manufacturing Executive • Responsible for assisting with the development and designing of tooling and other production equipment • When necessary research and source technical equipment for quality control, production and maintenance purposes • Assist the QA department to ensure that the Company meets all aspects of its required Quality Standards • When necessary assist Company customers with identifying and correcting problems in the field • Assist the Manufacturing Executive in identifying and implementing process and product improvements with the main aim of improving efficiencies and aligning with Company International production developments • Assist with the renewal of the Company SA plant in terms of automation and cost reduction • Chair and administrate the Engineering Meeting on a weekly basis.
