Architectural Technologist - Johannesburg
Job Description: As a Senior Architecture Technologist, you will play a critical role in our architectural projects, contributing your expertise in technological aspects of architectural design and construction. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that our projects meet both aesthetic and technical standards. Your responsibilities will include:
Work on Autocad
2. Work on Revit
3. Can do full construction drawings sections; elevations; door and window schedules;
4. Can do full council submission drawings
5. Can do detailed drawings
6. Can do interior details / Bathroom layouts / joinery layouts
7. Site supervision not a deal breaker if not done
8. Prepared to travel
- Technical Design:
- Leading the development of detailed technical drawings and specifications for architectural projects.
- Ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Integrating sustainable design principles and technologies into project plans.
- Technology Integration:
- Researching and implementing innovative technologies and materials to enhance building performance and efficiency.
- Advising on the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital tools into project workflows.
- Collaborating with project teams to resolve technical challenges and optimize design solutions.
- Project Management:
- Supporting project managers in coordinating technical aspects of architectural projects, including scheduling and budgeting.
- Conducting quality assurance reviews to ensure the accuracy and completeness of technical documentation.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
- Client Interaction:
- Communicating technical concepts and solutions to clients and other stakeholders.
- Collaborating with clients to understand their requirements and preferences, and incorporating them into project designs.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural design and construction, with a focus on technical aspects.
- Proficiency in architectural drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and other relevant design tools.
- Thorough understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable design principles and technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor junior staff members and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Architecture Technologist).
- Experience with parametric design software and digital fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with energy modelling and simulation software.
- Track record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
