As we continue to expand our operations and our expertise in battery energy storage solutions (BESS) and become a leading Independent Power Producer in the Corporate and Industry sphere, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Procurement to join our team and lead our procurement strategies, ensuring efficient sourcing, purchasing, and supply chain management to support our ambitious growth plans.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As Asset Acquisition Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in expanding our portfolio of managed assets through acquisitions and buy-backs. You will identify, evaluate, and secure new renewable energy projects and opportunities, guiding them from the initial discovery phase through to acquisition and project initiation.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for developing the asset acquisition strategy, the valuation of potential sites and managing the asset acquisition process through identification of potential partners/sites, valuation of portfolios and negotiation through to deal close. Your efforts will directly contribute to our mission of enabling better lives through better energy solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Degree in related field

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Understanding of solar project development and the renewable energy regulatory environment.
  • Project Finance Modelling and Development of Valuation Models
  • Strong Presentation Skills
  • Decision Making and Deal Negotiation
  • Expert user of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The ideal candidate will have an established track record in the South African C&I energy market, with a thorough understanding of renewable power purchase agreements (PPA) and Energy wheeling.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on project development, M&A, or asset management.
  • Proven track record in negotiating and closing deals in the solar energy sector.
  • Large scale renewables (incl. solar PV and Wind) experience advantageous

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Market Segmentation and Strategy Development

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify new opportunities for solar project development or acquisition.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor movements.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans for portfolio growth.
  • Identify and prioritize target markets and regions based on comprehensive risk and opportunity assessments.

Project Evaluation

  • Perform initial due diligence on potential asset or portfolio acquisitions, including financial, technical, legal, and regulatory assessments.

Negotiation and Deal Structuring

  • Lead negotiations with project owners, developers, and other stakeholders to structure and close acquisition deals.
  • Develop financial models and analyze the viability of potential acquisitions.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with internal teams (legal, finance, engineering, etc.) and external stakeholders to ensure smooth progression of acquisition deals.
  • Foster strong relationships with industry partners, landowners, and governmental bodies.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with project management and development teams to ensure a seamless transition of acquired projects into the development pipeline.
  • Provide support and insight during the project initiation phase.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Ensure all acquisition activities are well-documented and comply with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Prepare and present acquisition proposals and progress reports to senior management.
