The Assistant Accountant is a crucial member of the finance team responsible for supporting various financial and accounting functions within the organization. This role assists in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies 1.Financial Data Entry and Maintenance Accurately record financial transactions in accounting software or systems. Maintain and update general ledger accounts. Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records. 2.Reconciliations Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable on a regular basis. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records. 3.Financial Reporting Assist in preparing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Generate financial reports and distribute them to relevant stakeholders. Stay current with financial technology trends to enhance financial analysis, reporting, and process automation. 4.General Ledger Maintenance Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts. Record financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner. Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures. 5.Expense Management Review and process employee expense reports. Ensure compliance with company expense policies. 6.Tax Compliance Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely submission. Maintain records for tax-related transactions and supporting documentation. 7.Audit Support Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits. Provide requested documentation and explanations for audit inquiries. 8.Financial Analysis Assist in analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Assist in analysing and controlling costs within the organisation. Identify areas where cost reductions or cost efficiencies can be achieved while maintaining quality standards. 9.Budgeting and Forecasting Assist with input for annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide regular updates to management. 10.Compliance and Regulations Stay up to date with financial regulations and compliance requirements. Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures. 11.Ad Hoc Financial Tasks Assist the finance team with special projects and other financial tasks as required. Matric Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. Previous experience in accounting or finance roles is preferred. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Familiarity with financial regulations and tax laws is a plus. Apply Now
