Audit Senior - Johannesburg
We have an exciting opportunity for an External Audit Senior to join our dynamic team at Gold City Offshoring for one of a prominent independent accounting firm in the UK, boasting nearly 100 partners and staff distributed across three office locations.
Location: Johannesburg (Hybrid)
Contract Term: 12 Month Annual Renewable Contract
Position Overview:
As an External Audit Senior, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality audit services to a diverse portfolio of clients in the UK. Your role will encompass planning and executing the full audit file, interacting with clients to understand their business operations, and providing valuable insights that contribute to their success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the planning, fieldwork and completion of audit assignments.
- Assisting Audit Managers and Partners in their duties.
- Strategizing, executing, and finalizing audit assignments.
- Assigning tasks to and overseeing the work of junior team members, as well as reviewing their outputs.
- Maintaining regular communication with Managers, Partners, and team members.
- Compiling annual statutory financial statements based on complete client trial balances.
- Recognizing and addressing client needs, proposing potential solutions for technical matters, and coordinating with managers to align on client requirements and solutions.
- Preparing and/or assessing Corporate Tax Computations and Returns.
- Assuming primary responsibility for creating and monitoring progress against budgets.
- Mentoring, guiding, and fostering the professional development of junior staff members within audit teams.
- Ensuring adherence to both internal (audit methodology and risk management) and external (regulatory) standards.
- Managing a diverse client portfolio spanning various sectors and sizes, providing our team members with extensive exposure and experience.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant CA(SA) with at least 1 year post-article experience in external auditing within the private sector.
- Experience of preparing statutory financial statements and tax computations/ returns.
- Working knowledge of UK and International GAAS, IFRS, UK GAAP and Financial Reporting requirements would be advantageous.
- Proven experience leading audit engagements and managing audit teams.
- Experience supervising and coaching junior members of staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and team members.
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
