The role will involve working as part of the audit team ensuring that audit planning, fieldwork, and completion are performed to a sufficient standard, ultimately resulting in the ability for the firm to sign audit reports, provide excellent service levels to clients, and assist in developing audit trainees.
Contract Period: 12 months annual renewable contract.
Location: Hybrid – Johannesburg or Cape Town.
Role Overview:
The goal of this role is to be a vital member of the audit team, ensuring that audit planning, fieldwork, and completion meet a satisfactory standard, enabling the signing off of audit reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning, executing, and finalizing audit and accounts preparation tasks according to internal protocols, ensuring high-quality and timely completion.
- Preparing and finalizing financial statements and tax computations.
- Presenting files to Business Advisors and Directors for review within agreed-upon timeframes.
- Developing and monitoring audit assignment budgets.
- Establishing goals for junior audit staff and overseeing their work on-site, providing on-the-job training as needed.
- Reviewing the audit work conducted by junior staff and offering constructive feedback for their professional growth.
- Keeping Business Advisors and Directors informed of work progress.
- Cultivating and nurturing positive relationships with clients.
- Taking ownership of continuous professional development to stay abreast of industry advancements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant CA(SA) with at least 1-year post-article experience in external auditing within the private sector - Experience working with Charities and Schools & Academies
- Must have UK GAAP/FRS102 experience.
- Substantial experience in the full audit cycle within the Private sector
- Proficiency in working within a team on external audit assignments, from planning to fieldwork and completion stages under International Standards on Auditing
- Proficiency to operate essentially audit and accounting software - Experience working on IRIS would be a bonus - Software training will be provided.
- Self-motivated with a strong Ability to work (with training) with key software sense of responsibility and a commitment to maintaining a high level of quality service.
- Sound knowledge of accounting and auditing concepts, with the awareness of one's own limitations and when to seek assistance.
