Brits North West: Environmental Affairs – Candidate GIS Technician - South Africa

REQUIREMENTS : A 3-year Bachelor’s degree/National Diploma in Geography/Environmental Sciences/Cartography or an appropriate equivalent qualification with GIS as a major subject plus proven relevant extensive experience in natural resource management planning and implementation. Knowledge and experience (minimum 3 years) in relevant GIS work. Innovation, problem solving, interpersonal, conflict management and negotiation skills. The ability to work under pressure for long hours and travel extensively. Registration with PLATO and Computer literacy in Microsoft excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and GIS packages DUTIES : The incumbent is expected to update and populate Working for Water Information Management System (WIMS) spatial and non-spatial data, Generate contract maps for Invasive alien clearing operations. Electronic and hard-copy filing of documents, Quality assurance of new contracts generated by means of a Quality Assurance register. GIS support through provision of maps to relevant stakeholders – on request, Ensure data integrity of the WIMS database through fixing/ correcting of spatial data, Consolidate contract data for monthly reports to Data manager and Natural Resource management, Identify discrepancies in contract maps and report to supervisor/ management.
