Hire Resolve is currently seeking a Chief Mining Engineer for a leading mining company. As the Chief Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the mining operations, ensuring safety and compliance with industry regulations, and driving operational efficiency. You will work closely with the senior management team and provide technical expertise and guidance to optimize mining processes and maximize production. Responsibilities: Provide input to strategic plans of the section by compiling comprehensive operational plans Keep abreast of changes in relevant guidelines and other legislation to make recommendations where policies, processes, and/or procedures require amendment Develop, enhance, and implement policies, processes, and operational procedures within the respective Department aimed at enhancing service delivery and overall productivity Conduct regular pit visits to ensure safe mine operations that adhere to all mine and legal regulations Advise corrective actions and ensure interventions are implemented, providing solutions to performance gaps on any deviations to procedures Optimize and continuously improve the overall planning cycle Ensure each component of the planning cycle is executed in such a way that interfaces are managed and that it fully supports operational requirements Execute and ensure the Planning department operationalises the reconciliation process of actual performance versus target and process continuous improvement in line with industry standards Identify and complete LTP to MTP mine planning design projects to assist in optimizing mining operations Establish and maintain technical standards and a management information system Conduct benchmark exercises internally and externally Use benchmark exercises to improve mining operations Improve company profitability by using enhanced mine planning and execution techniques Ensure mine plans meet and exceed plant quantities and quality requirements Update the Resource Reserve statement to provide a current illustration of the minerals of interest within the orebody and the quantities in which they are present Analyze all relevant Department data and report on Departmental trends and operating requirements to determine funding requirements for the financial year Monitor short-term Departmental budgets by scrutinizing and aligning spend within the Department to support and drive effective and efficient functioning within budgetary constraints Monitor Departmental expenditure against budget allocations Request appropriate reallocation as required to manage the prevention of unnecessary spend Comply with all financial, Supply Chain Management, and other Tharisa Minerals regulations and policies Create and maintain a conducive work environment by appropriately applying Human Resources policies and procedures Lead the team according to Tharisa Minerals’ leadership principles and values throughout the entire employee life cycle Ensure a high-performance culture Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders Ensure information, advice, or opinions on relevant matters are made available and/or communicated with all relevant stakeholders to manage expectations and timelines Utilize opportunities presented to enhance the relationship between management, unions, and employees Implement processes to maximize a collaborative working relationship Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field MSc Eng Degree is advantageous Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency is advantageous Proven experience as a Chief Mining Engineer or in a similar senior role 8-10 years of experience as a Long and Medium Term Mine Planning Engineer in open pit, technical planning environment Competent in Deswik, Talpac, and XPac Benefits Salary: Market Related Family Responsibility Leave (if applicable) If you meet the above requirements and want to make a career-changing move, apply today by either filling in the online application form or by emailing your CV to mininghireresolve.za.com Alternatively, you are welcome to contact or connect with either Menina Campher , Stefnie Bestbier , Esmari Sinclair , Janoke Booysen , or Katijah Aboobaker We will contact you telephonically in 3 days should you be suitable for this vacancy.
