Chief Operating Officer - Johannesburg

A leading financial planner based in Johannesburg, known for specialising in the sale of simple insurance solutions is seeking a dynamic Chief Operating Officer to oversee internal operations and drive growth in their Johannesburg office. As the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for directing, administering, and coordinating internal activities in alignment with company policies and objectives. You will lead various functions including sales operations, business process outsourcing, compliance, and facilities management as well as supporting the CEO with oversight over information technology. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the organization's growth trajectory, fostering innovation, and ensuring a collaborative work environment. Whilst playing an integral role as part of the Group Exco, Group Management Committee and the IT Steering Committee. Key qualifications of the Chief Operating Officer: Post graduate qualification in business or a related field Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in the financial services industry Minimum 5 years' experience in a business process outsourcing (BPO) business essential Experience collaborating with international BPO clients essential Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills Key duties of the Chief Operating Officer will include but is not limited to: Direct internal operations to meet financial and operational targets. Contribute to the development of short and long-term plans and budgets aligned with organizational goals. Collaborate with Business Development and Client Services teams for tender inputs and client feedback. Implement procedures and controls to enhance communication and management direction. Develop and enforce operating policies consistent with Board policies and ensure their execution. Regularly assess and report overall operational performance to CEO and Board of Directors. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, particularly those governed by the Financial Services Board (FSB). Establish management development plans and succession policies. Manage information reporting and development as the group's custodian of information. Develop and oversee risk management processes. Supervise Facilities functions including Occupational Health and Safety and space planning. Key personal skills of a successful Chief Operating Officer: Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills. Highly numerate and analytical. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
