Civil Engineer - - Cape Town City Centre

As a Town Civil Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning, designing, and overseeing various civil engineering projects within our municipality. You will collaborate with internal teams, government officials, contractors, and community stakeholders to ensure projects are executed effectively and in alignment with regulatory standards and community needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and design infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, drainage systems, and public facilities.
Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies to assess project requirements and constraints.
Prepare engineering designs, specifications, and cost estimates for construction projects.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and budgetary constraints.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
Collaborate with architects, urban planners, environmental engineers, and other professionals to integrate civil engineering solutions into broader development plans.
Conduct inspections and assessments of existing infrastructure, identifying maintenance and repair needs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure.
Proven experience in civil engineering, preferably in municipal or urban development settings.
Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Sound understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards in civil engineering.
