The incumbent, reporting to the General Manager, will oversee and coordinate various aspects of the commercial operations within the organization, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Your role will involve strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership across multiple functions including supply chain, logistics, warehouse management, and distribution. Supply Chain Management: Develop and implement strategies to optimize the supply chain, including sourcing, procurement, and inventory management. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality assurance. Monitor and analyse supply chain performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Logistics and Distribution: Oversee transportation, distribution, and delivery operations to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods. Coordinate with logistics partners and carriers to streamline transportation routes and minimize costs. Implement tracking systems and procedures to monitor the status of shipments and resolve any issues or delays. Estimating and Planning: Lead the estimation and forecasting of demand, production requirements, and resource allocation. Develop and maintain production schedules and capacity plans to meet customer demand while optimizing resources and minimizing lead times though an S&OP process. Warehouse Operations: Manage warehouse facilities, layout, and workflow to maximize space utilization and operational efficiency. Implement best practices for inventory management, including cycle counting, stock rotation, and order picking processes. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards in warehouse operations. Goods Receiving and Despatch: Oversee the receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming goods, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation. Coordinate the despatch of finished goods to customers, distributors, or retail outlets, ensuring on-time delivery and order fulfilment. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of commercial and operations staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Foster collaboration and cross-functional teamwork between departments such as sales, production, finance, and customer service. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to optimize processes and achieve operational excellence. Bachelor's degree in either Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred. Proven experience in a senior management role with responsibilities in supply chain, logistics, and commercial operations. Strong analytical skills and strategic mindset, with the ability to analyse complex data and make data-driven decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management, coaching, and conflict resolution. Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices in supply chain management and logistics. Proficiency in using ERP systems, warehouse management software, and other relevant tools for planning and operations management. A successful Senior Commercial Manager in this role would be someone who can effectively balance strategic planning with hands-on operational management, driving efficiency and profitability while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service.
