Commercial Manager Construction - Johannesburg

JOB PURPOSE:

The Commercial Manager is pivotal in driving the sales and marketing strategies nationally. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing effective plans to maximize revenue and market share.Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Proven experience in senior sales or commercial management within the construction materials industry.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job related activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sales Leadership:

o Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve and exceed revenue targets.

o Lead a high-performing sales team to cultivate and expand customer relationships.

  • Market Analysis:

o Conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities, market trends, and competitor activities. Utilize this information to develop strategic plans and position the company competitively.

  • Marketing Strategies:

o Create and implement effective marketing campaigns that enhance brand visibility and generate demand for products.

  • Contract Negotiation:

o Oversee contract negotiations with clients, ensuring favourable terms while maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship. Work closely with management and finance teams to finalize agreements.

  • Relationship Management:

o Foster strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.

o Act as a primary point of contact to address customer concerns and ensure satisfaction.

  • Budget Management:

o Develop and manage budgets for sales and marketing activities. Monitor expenditures to ensure efficient use of resources and a positive return on investment.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS:

  • This position is based in an industrial factory with automated machinery.
  • Extensive travelling to customers (stores and head offices nationally).
  • This position must be medically fit, highly energetic, vivacious and robust. This is a demanding role.

REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements and qualifications for the position includes:
  • Bachelor''s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior sales or commercial management role within the construction materials industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials and market dynamics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in using software tools for customer relationship management (CRM).
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving aptitude with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Attention to the finest of detail and commitment to maintaiining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Be willilng to work overtime when required.
  • Honest and reliable.
