COMMUNICATION OFFICER X2 (REF: 258/2015) 12-MONTH CONTRACT Directorate: Office of the Chief Director: Marine Resources Management SALARY : R196 278 per annum CENTRE : Cape Town REQUIREMENTS : 3-year tertiary qualifications in Communication or Journalism or Media Studies. Writing experience. Experience in the media and communication environment. Experience in media strategy development and implementation. Experience in media monitoring and analysis. Reasonable knowledge of the Marine Living Resources Act, 1998 (Act No 18 of 1998), the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (Act No 2 of 2000), Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No 1 of 1999) and Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (Act No 4 of 2013). Research experience. Relevant experience in dealing with stakeholders (both internally and externally). The ability to work under pressure. Good communication, interpersonal, planning and organising skills are a necessity. Computer literacy in MS Office software. DUTIES : Produce regular newsletters and special editions on the Fishing Rights Allocation Process and Small-scale Fisheries Implementation. Distribute newsletters to internal and external stakeholders. Produce schedules for publication content. Ensure FRAP and Small-scale Fisheries content is regularly updated on the website. Design and develop brochures, leaflets, exhibition materials and other material, including branding and signage. Facilitate development and production of FRAP and small-scale fisheries booklets. Develop and implement media plans. Write media release in respect of FRAP-related matters intended for internal and external stakeholders and take photographs. Conduct daily media monitoring for local newspapers. Develop media briefing documents such as fact sheets and background information. Collate information with regard to media enquiries and draft responses. Assist with the implementation of FRAP communication strategy plan. Provide inputs in relation to sector-specific policies.
