The Role Pele Green Energy is seeking a talented and highly motivated Community Liaison Officer (CLO) during the construction phase of a large sized Solar PV Project. The Community Liaison Officer will play a critical role in developing and maintaining relationships with communities in and around the sites of company operations. The role is required to provide insight and local knowledge which will enhance the company’s ability to manage a range of risks and uncertainties. In addition, the individual will be required to be a familiar resource for community members to raise concerns and should recognise opportunities and resolve grievances. The role will be responsible to promote SED programmes and act as a spokesperson for the project company. The role will be site-based in the Welkom area of the Free State province. Job Responsibilities Oversee community engagements with different stakeholder groups (e.g. local leaders, general community members, interest groups) Engaging with Stakeholders , including wider stakeholder group (NGOs, youth groups, media) Engaging with local affected stakeholders to promote project activities, ensuring smooth operation of programmes. Risk impact mitigation, including managing local grievances, conflict resolutions and mediation. Providing feedback to Pele and the EPC on critical stakeholder/community concerns and priorities. Close monitoring and oversight of the EPC grievance register, providing advice and contributions for effective resolution. Communicating and disseminating information to key Pele Stakeholders. Be a point of contact for enquiries from the public and stakeholders regarding programme opportunities and channels to the relevant unit. Sourcing local service providers for events and meetings. Putting up project and programme posters in the community, on various platforms. Arranging meetings with stakeholders. Coordinating logistics for community engagements and meetings. Reporting and monitoring engagement actions and plans. Requirements Diploma or Degree in Development Studies, Public Administration, Public Relations or equivalent. At least 3 years of working experience. Experience in Community Development, experience within mining communities is advantageous. Knowledge in branding, events management and campaigns. Self-motivated and completes tasks effectively and timeously. Diplomatic, profession, person-centred when interacting. Conflict resolution. Computer literacy in MS Office. Valid driver’s license.
