The purpose of the Quality Assurance Manager is to be responsible for the entire quality assurance, quality control and food safety systems within County Fair's commercial operations. Astral, a leading South African integrated poultry producer, has this opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager available at County Fair within the Commercial operations in the Western Cape, based between the Primary Processing and Further Processing plants, as well as the Cold Store operation. The purpose of the Quality Assurance Manager is to be responsible for the entire quality assurance, quality control and food safety systems within County Fair's commercial operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for: Management of the Quality Department and constantly striving to improve results at Epping, Hocroft and New Market Cold Store Monthly reporting on all department activities to the COO and Group Quality Manager Personal development of team members As a member of the Commercial Divisions management team, effective, regular and timeous communication to all members is required Responsible for quality control systems, product development and food safety systems within the County Fair commercial operations with the emphasis on continuous improvement Stay abreast with regulatory changes to food safety standards and customer requirements ensuring that the necessary corrective action is timeously implemented Assist in developing new processes for product development, labeling and packaging Manage supplier audits and verifications according to required/agreed time frames Initiate and investigate customer/consumer complaints Verify compliance to internal as well as customer traceability requirements using mock-recalls Implement and maintain FSSC 22000 certification Implement and maintain the HALAAL certification Maintain current food safety certification; YUM, FSSI, FSA & Export, and any others required by County Fair or the Commercial Division Reporting of non-conformance’s and collating the required feedback to the Chief Operating Officer Investigate non-conformance’s via root cause analysis, the implementation of corrective action and/or preventative action when required Management of internal and external audits within agreed and required time frames Ensure continuous compliance with regulatory standards, retail (customer) and food safety and quality requirements Management of and the implementation of the 20 Keys workplace Improvement Program Ensure compliance to the Health and Safety Act The successful candidate must been the following requirements: A completed National Diploma or Degree in Food Technology Certified FSSC 22000 implementation training and ISO 45001 implementation training At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role Knowledge on an integrated food processing environment will be an added advantage Knowledge of the 20-keys system will be a distinct advantage, or similar Knowledge of statistical process control MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) Quality control systems / QMS The ability to work independently in a highly pressurized and deadline driven environment Excellent administration and problem-solving skills Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing and organizing skills are essential Key requirements include being commercially sound, deadline driven and having attention to detail The ideal candidate should be hardworking, honest, self-motivated, disciplined and be able to work under pressure; Hold a valid code 08 driver’s license and own reliable transport is essential.
