Applications are now open for the position of Government Credit Controller. Duties will include managing and controlling the debtors ledger, attending to customer queries, collecting outstanding balances, monitoring credit limits, recording all payments received, allocating payments to the correct accounts, performing account reconciliations, managing the month-end process, and many other tasks. Working on government accounts Working within the framework of set collection targets as agreed with management Collecting all outstanding balances Managing arrear accounts and keeping bad debt to a minimum Monitoring credit limits and communicating with the manager Allocating payments and settlement discounts Recording all payments received Following up on remittances Allocating according to the remittance Accurately recording all necessary account adjustments into journals after authorization Working through unallocated cash reconciliation Reconciling accounts, particularly those over 60 days Drawing up journals with supporting documents Contacting 25 customers daily regarding outstanding balances Ensuring a range of documents requested by the customer is emailed within 48 hours Recording all telephonic conversations with customers on the document handling system Resolving customer queries regarding outstanding credits, incorrectly invoiced amounts, credit limits, and payments Diarizing dates for direct deposit and following up on due dates Advising representatives and branch managers of customers to be put on hold Ensuring that all payments, credits, and journals are processed before the month-end cut-off Ensuring that all payments are balanced correctly Matric and a qualification in Credit Management At least 3 to 5 years experience as a Government Credit Controller At least five years experience in retail and wholesale environment Strong Excel knowledge
