The Job: edX is seeking a Cybersecurity professional who has a passion for making a difference Our students have a diverse background, from working professionals to recent college graduates who seek to transition into careers in Cybersecurity. Teaching Assistants will have a direct hand in changing the lives of our students. This is a fully remote, part-time position that would service either Sydney or Monash University in Australia. Teaching Assistants help instructors to lead classroom discussions, emphasize the meta-skills and core concepts, support students in their projects and challenges, and provide feedback to students. You don't have to have a ton of experience with teaching You just have to be a lifelong learner, proven teacher or mentor, or love to help people change their lives to succeed. What You Will Do: Create an engaging, positive, and inclusive learning environment for our students Explain complex topics to individuals with both a technical and non-technical background Ensure you are bringing the learning experience to life, building community and enhancing relevance through drawing on your own industry experience Infuse empathy, support, encouragement, and fun into the students' learning progression Assist the Instructor with class time management Observe the class during code activities and projects to assist students (via Zoom) Research and answer student questions Grade homework and group project assignments when applicable Skills & Requirements: At least 6 months of cybersecurity experience (or equivalent) Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required Completion of background check with satisfactory results, determined at edX's discretion, is required Must have a laptop, camera, and reliable internet access One additional monitor, microphone / headset are highly recommended UPS device is required Familiarity with the following: Security Fundamentals - CIA Triad, Governance, Risk Analysis and Risk Mitigation, Compliance, Business Continuity Planning Systems Administration - Linux Server Configuration, Bash Scripting and Programming, Windows Server Configurations Networks and Network Security - Network Architecture, Operations, Security, Wireshark and Traffic Analysis, Email Security, Wireless Security, Cryptography, Encryption, Cloud Security and Virtualization Defensive Security - Monitoring and Logging, Incident Response, Forensics, Data Extraction and Recovery Offensive Security - Burp Suite, SQL Injection, Penetration Testing Execution Standard, Searchsploit and Metasploit, Pivoting Networks Logistics: 24-week program (this is a part-time commitment) Class Schedule: M/T/TH Class Times: 10:00am - 2:15pm SAST (includes office hours and break) Classes are taught live online Other Perks: Maintain your current career while teaching Hone your own skills by teaching and mentoring others Gain access to thousands of tech professionals around the globe that make up our instructional staff network Experience the gratitude and fulfillment that comes along with teaching and giving back to the tech community We are required by law to verify your ability to work lawfully in South Africa Hourly salary only: In South Africa, the anticipated hourly salary for this role is R165/hr.
