Functional Job Description - Data Processor Reports to: Client Deliverables Manager Supervises: Assigned Staff Authority level: Not applicable 1.Basic Function The Data Processor is responsible for the processing of field data, the production of charts and maps as well as the production of reports 2.Primary Duties and Responsibilities 2.1 Operations a) Focal point for processing in Client Deliverables Department b) Assists Geo-data Supervisor in co-ordinating the processing and reporting section. c) Carry out processing and reporting work for assigned projects, primarily in the office and offshore when required d) Carry out check computations using raw and processed data e) Check survey data received from the field for completeness and quality f) Determine processing/charting requirements. Set up a processing plan together with field staff for assigned projects g) Check processing, mapping and reporting of field staff. Check final products before submission to clients h) Assist field staff in the execution of data processing and reporting work i) Provide survey data at project commencement to Party Chiefs and ensure survey parameters are correctly defined j) Facilitate and advise on proper functioning of processing workstations and on proper interfacing for data transfer from the field k) Participate in evaluation of processing software and advise on processing software requirements 2.2 Specific Additional Duties a) Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the company Management System on Quality and HSE related issues b) Ensure company business style is adhered to c) Provide processing and reporting training to staff 3.Principal Working Relationships a) Work closely with Geo-data Supervisor to co-ordinate work in the processing and reporting section b) Work with Project Managers for correct issuing of survey instructions and data. c) Liaise with Party Chiefs on data quality and processing requirements. d) Work closely and liaise with nominated Data Processors on processing requirements 4.Education and Experience Requirements a)Hydrographic qualification b) Min. 5 years field experience c) Conversant with computer operation and a basic knowledge of application software d)English language e) Experience with Caris HIPS & SIPS software is beneficial.
