Database Administrator - Cape Town Region
At Carrol Boyes, we are actively in search of a Database Administrator to assume the pivotal role of overseeing the meticulous maintenance of our Product Library. Your primary responsibility will be to create and maintain a complete and accurate product catalogue by category. This involves overseeing product and graphic hardware and software, managing and maintaining product and design archives, and updating the catalogue to include essential information such as 3D images, design specifications, and material suppliers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the Product & Graphic hardware & software. Create and update the product catalogue, organizing the architecture for an accessible system. Manage and maintain the product and design archive. Ensure the product catalogue is updated with 3D images, design specifications, bill of materials, and approved material suppliers and manufacturers. Archive graphics collateral for easy access, along with relevant product specs. Develop and maintain best practices for database documentation. Manage backup systems, disks, database capacity, and hardware support, including cloud or off-site storage and backup protocols. Minimum Requirements: Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience in database administration. Matric with a diploma or degree in Information Systems. Microsoft SQL Server Database certification (Advantage). Knowledge of Odoo or similar systems (Advantage). Skills: Computer Literacy: Advanced, with the ability to effectively use a computer for daily tasks. Excel: Moderate, capable of creating and maintaining product schedules. Problem Solving: Moderate, able to solve problems in line with task requirements. Organizational and Time Management Skills: Moderate, able to work in a dynamic environment and meet deadlines. Verbal and Written Communication: Moderate, detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills. Project Management: Moderate, capable of applying sound project management principles to meet deadlines.
