Debt Raising Banker - Johannesburg

Responsibilities

  1. Client Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, financial institutions, and investors.
  • Understand clients' financing requirements and provide strategic advice on debt capital raising options.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the debt raising process, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
Debt Structuring and Origination:
  • Develop innovative debt financing structures aligned with clients' financial goals and market conditions.
  • Originate, structure, and negotiate debt transactions, including syndicated loans, bond issuances, and other debt instruments.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and due diligence to assess creditworthiness and mitigate risks associated with debt transactions.
Deal Execution and Documentation:
  • Lead the execution of debt transactions from initiation to closing, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed financing proposals, term sheets, and offering memoranda in collaboration with legal and compliance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies throughout the deal execution process.
Market Research and Business Development:
  • Stay abreast of market trends, industry dynamics, and regulatory changes affecting debt capital markets in South Africa.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the expansion of the debt capital-raising business.
  • Represent the bank in industry forums, conferences, and client meetings to enhance the bank's visibility and reputation.

Requirements:

  • Honours Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or CFA certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience in debt capital markets, investment banking, or corporate finance, with a focus on debt origination and structuring.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, debt instruments, and regulatory frameworks in South Africa.
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in financial modelling and valuation techniques.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining client relationships, with a results-oriented approach.
