Debtors Clerk - Centurion

Key Responsibilities:
  • Send out invoices and statements to clients.
  • Reconcile clients accounts to ensure balances are accurate.
  • Follow up communication to customers to ensure invoices are received for payment.
  • Send supporting documentation to customers invoices to ensure full understanding of the work that has been done.
  • Allocate payments received to correct accounts.
  • Follow up with Bank on payments that needs verification.
  • Resolve customer queries to ensure speedy payment.
  • Send letter of demand to non-paying customers and follow up with customer to ensure payment date is met.
  • Suspend customers who did not pay as per the letter of demand.
  • Liaise with Key Account Managers to ensure that they are aware of account statuses.
  • Escalate unresolved queries to relevant teams internally and follow up to ensure a speedy resolution.
  • Send Debtors report to management and executives informing them of accounts movements.
  • Update Accounts movements on all internal systems within the business.
  • Manage the Junior debtors clerks and ensure that they do what is expected of them.
  • Ensure that accounts are paid in line with the SLA.
  • Ability to travel to client when required to do so.
  • Provide Management with monthly collection forecasts.
  • Attend internal meetings to resolve some of the queries in clients accounts.
Minimum Requirements and Qualification:
Post Matric qualification with Accounting /Finance will be an advantage.
  • Good communication skills (Written and Verbal)
  • Analytical thinking ability
  • Attention to detail.
  • Basic Understanding of local government
  • Experience in Sage intact would be an advantage.
  • Self-Starter who can structure work in an organised manner.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, especially at month end.
  • Be efficient in at least 3 or 4 South African languages.
