The Dental Services Assistant provides clinical assistance to the dental staff with functions related to providing comprehensive patient treatment. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in preparing the Clinic to receive patients. Assists the Dentist in all procedures, requiring four-handed dentistry, assists Dentist in recording patient date in the EMR system. Provides operatory equipment maintenance through proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of all equipment and instruments. As necessary, maintains inventory and submits supply orders to Clinical Lead. Assists in the training of new dental assistant staff, regarding operations and procedures. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sit up to 8 hours per day; 4 hours at a time. Stand for up to 5 hours per day; 4 hours at a time. Frequent walking, lifting, carrying, pushing of objects weighing up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Frequent squatting, kneeling, occasional stooping/bending, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral visions. EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. CPR/BLS certified required. If not CPR/BLS certified, must be certified within 90 days of hire. PA x-ray certification preferred. Certification from accredited Dental Assisting Program preferred. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year hands-on dental assisting experience preferred Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
