Designate Divisional Loss Prevention Manager - Johannesburg

Purpose of the Job The purpose of the Divisional Loss Prevention Manager is to protect company assets and maintain or improve store profitability by developing and implementing loss prevention programs on security and safety for employees and customers, with the goal of preventing and minimizing theft, reducing shortages and fraud within a designated Shoprite Group division. This role is efficient and proactive in managing shrinkage and other risks for within the designated Shoprite Group division, ensuring that occurrence of delict activities such as shoplifting, vandalism, counterfeiting, robbery, burglary, and store safety are minimized and kept within company standards. Furthermore, this role provides expert professional advice to Shoprite Group divisional management on loss prevention principles, policies and guidelines, processes, and procedures. Job Objectives The context of Loss Prevention Manager includes but not limited to cash handling theft, inventory control, facilities and equipment damage, security access violations, fraud, and a variety of audits of employee activities: Effectively and proactively implement and manage loss prevention processes and programs to minimize the financial losses of the divisional retail operation related to theft, vandalism, accident, and injury. Develop and/or reinforce policies regarding loss prevention, including the adherence of company procedures and guidelines relating to loss control in order to reduce shrinkage. Hire and train loss prevention staff. Organize and oversee the schedules and work of loss prevention staff. Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Assist with discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. Proactively identify potential risk areas, recommend, and implement applicable corrective measurements or systems to minimize loss of merchandise, money, or company assets. Develop ways to detect safety issues and security violations and develop programs to prevent repeat occurrences. Oversee security improvement activities such as the installation of new security equipment. Conduct audits on agreed procedures, timelines, and standards to ensure inventory is processed, handled, monitored appropriately and document any errors or failures. Monitor inventory and investigate suspicious customer and/or employee activity, and resolve alleged and actual theft, violations of policy, and compliance concerns. Conduct periodic inspections of stores and facilities to ensure surveillance and security equipment is functioning properly and evaluate the effectiveness of technologies employed. Prepares reports on the effectiveness of established prevention measures. Develop and deliver loss prevention training program for employees. Continuously research on latest trends within the areas of function, recommend and implement additional security measures. Coordinate and communicate with management and governmental agencies to act appropriately and legally, and build good relationships with external service providers. Provide expert advice to the Shoprite Group divisional management on appropriate loss prevention actions. Qualifications Matric/Grade 12 certification - (essential). Diploma or Degree in business, criminal justice, or related fields - (essential) Experience 4 years’ experience in retail loss prevention or similar, with solid experience conducting legal or ethical investigations and delivering programs for loss prevention purposes - (essential). In-depth proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 to manage communications and execution of tasks within the function - (essential).
