E & I Field Engineer - Durban
POSITION: E&I FIELD ENGINEER
Our client is a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm that has a vacancy at their Durban office for an Electrical / Instrument Field Engineer (herein after referred to as the E&I Field Engineer) to assist with projects in the heavy engineering / petrochemical industries throughout South Africa.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time on-site role for an E&I Field Engineer located in Durban (and various sites around SA as required). The E&I Field Engineer will provide field specific technical leadership and support to the E&I design team incl. conducting of field audits, management of Contractor budget and schedule and develop and maintain client relationships. The E&I Field Engineer will also be responsible for Quality Assurance (QA) checks of Contractor Quality Control (QC) documentation, physical verification that the installation is built to the Design Engineers intent and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards. Other activities will include commissioning assistance of electrical and instrumentation systems and project handover duties.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A qualification in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering or a related field (Minimum Electrician / Technician).
- Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in E&I field installations, testing and commissioning.
- Knowledge of LV, MV, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, PLC’s, field instrumentation.
- Experience with codes and standards including SANS and IEC.
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical engineering reports/drawings
- Experience working in a project team, including managing budgets and schedules.
- Experience heavy industry / petrochemical industries is a plus.
- Trade tested / Wireman's license is advantageous, if coupled with the desired amount of supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to travel to client sites as needed.
No semi-skilled qualifications will be considered (e.g. ELCONOP).
REMUNERATION:
R600,000.00 – R850,000.00 CTC (based on qualifications and experience)
