Electrical & Mechanical Team Leader - Touws River

The Project Company, CPV1, is seeking an experienced and technically competent Electrical Team Leader. This is a role that requires a depth of experience in the installation, operating and fault finding of LV (dc and ac) and MV electro-mechanical/mechanical primary equipment and control gear. Comprehensive knowledge of LV and MV switchgear, transformers and cables is essential. Prior experience with high voltage (132 kV) equipment operation and maintenance will be useful. You must have a thorough understanding of O&M practices for a renewable energy power plant from an electro-mechanical works perspective (Concentrated Photo Voltaic). Your primary responsibilities will involve the inspection, operation, maintenance, supervision, and safety of the infrastructure of the facility and field personnel. The Team Lead will report directly to the O&M Site Manager. This role is based at site, Touwsrivier, Western Cape. Job Responsibilties General  Supports in developing documentation of CPV Systems on site.  Assists electrical team when required.  Responsible for operation, maintenance, co-ordination, and supervision of the overall O&M functions of the electro-mechanical system and SCADA monitoring of the plant.  Co-ordinating and executing all aspects of electro-mechanical systems operation and maintenance.  Oversee the planning and scheduling of all resources required to deliver timeous execution of operation and maintenance activities. This will include parts, tools and labour required to ensure that the daily work orders are completed in a timely manner as well as in accordance with operational and maintenance procedures and guidelines.  Provides supervisory and technical expertise in all functionalities of the electro-mechanical systems of the plant, leading and guiding teams in carrying out the operation and maintenance within the plant.  Ensures that the team works safely and are complying with appropriate risk assessments and permits to work. The Team Leader will be responsible for team briefings and induction activities surrounding work protocols, safety and ensure messages are understood by all concerned parties to ensure that safety standards and procedures developed are adhered to.  Exhibit strong leadership skills and have sound knowledge of single -and three phase low, medium and high voltage electro-mechanical systems (dc and AC). Operations and Maintenance  Responsible for operations & maintenance (reactive & preventive) of CPV Systems site to ensure the highest possible availability.  Diagnostics & Repairs of CPV Systems.  Manages spare parts.  Compiles and implements work schedules for the electro-mechanical personnel;  Reviews and executes electro-mechanical plant work orders. Assures required material and equipment is available.  Creates maintenance schedules and switching procedures.  Schedules, assigns, and communicates electro-mechanical routine, preventive and corrective maintenance and repair tasks while minimizing equipment downtime.  Evaluate, inspect, and supervise the operation and maintenance of the power generation system and related equipment such as switchgear, transformers, inverters, motors, control circuitry and power cabling.  Executes and/or supervises testing of electro-mechanical plant (such insulation resistance testing, voltage ratio testing, earth electrode measurement). Ensure calibration of test devices/equipment.  Troubleshoots equipment mal-operation and/or perform equipment failure investigation.  Maintains a database of equipment to record and track maintenance and repair history.  Performs periodic inspection of power plant system components.  Monitors SCADA and supervise SCADA personnel.  Be conversant with and understand the complete working of the electro-mechanical and control systems.  Performs stock level planning and monitoring by analysing and recommending spare part inventory levels for assigned electro-mechanical apparatus, initiate replacement orders, organize stock for orderly storage and monitor usage.  Reports compilation of operational and maintenance activities and incidents.  Prepares Risk Assessments and work permits in accordance with statutory requirements .  Actively participates in safety initiatives and promote safety awareness and accident prevention.  Reads and interprets design schematics to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical plant. Health and Safety  Maintains Health and Safety standards as per the Operator’s Health and Safety policies.  Responsible for the overall safe operations and maintenance of all electro-mechanical plant.  Ensures that all employees, visitors, and contractors are working in a safe manner.  Reports and rectifies any unsafe equipment, acts, or dangerous occurrences. Other  Flexibility for this role is necessary, with the ability to accommodate flexible working hours, should specific problems or business requirements dictate.
