Electrical Engineer - Oil & Gas Industry experience. Job Description Technical Design Ability - Under supervision completes technical design work using company and Client design methods, standards and data in line with Project requirements. Provision of support to designers. Technical Expertise - Possesses proficient levels of technical expertise required to do the job, however continuously work towards improving and updating technical abilities. Will personally seek out opportunities to develop technical knowledge base. Continuous Improvement - Working through training objectives and continuous improvement schedule via in-house and external training opportunities. Working towards professional qualification. Analytical Thinking - Identifies and analyses problems within their remit and can utilise analytical tools to break problems into component parts. Is attentive to detail and can follow existing guidelines to resolve issues. Understands limitations and problems of analysis within their remit Organizational and Industry Awareness - Has an understanding of the wider business goals and will allow this to guide their input and decision making. Understand and complies with the rules and regulations applicable to their role. Commercial Awareness and Customer Focus - Has an understanding of general market conditions and the drivers behind projects. Understands the market in which company operates and is able to articulate companies skills and methodologies to support client needs. Understands the importance of customers to the organisation. Takes pride in delivering a high quality service Responsibilities Ensure that detail design methods, standards and data used on assigned projects meet the Client’s requirements and/or those issued. Carry out electrical engineering work as required by the lead electrical engineer in accordance with the agreed project schedule. Prepare general notes requisitions for electrical equipment on assigned projects. Assists the designers with the preparation of electrical drawings on assigned projects. Set up and maintain electrical databases on assigned projects Specify and prepare material requisitions for electrical equipment on assigned projects. Prepare all contract requisitions. Prepare technical bid evaluations for electrical equipment on assigned projects. Review and approve supplier documents for electrical work on assigned projects. Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT’s) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT’s) for electrical equipment (or equipment with significant electrical content) on assigned projects Notify the Project Engineer of all deficiencies in the flow of data on assigned projects or other basic information required for execution of work. Provide progress report information on assigned projects, at the required frequency and with the required content, to the project Engineer. Follow up electrical Construction work on assigned projects sites to ensure correct interpretation of designs regarding installation. Advise the Principal/ Senior Electrical Engineer of any slippages / deviations and their causes and proposed corrective action. Advise the Principal / Senior Electrical Engineer of any technical problems and unresolved differences with other groups. Keep informed, by all possible means, of relevant technical developments in electrical industries Suggests ways to improve efficiency, costs and service in the execution of projects. Assist where necessary in the compilation of operating manuals and mechanical catalogues. Provide electrical engineering support to the other engineering disciplines and to the construction department. Attend discipline specific and general training courses where required Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Principal / Senior Electrical Engineer. Qualifications: BSc / BEng / BTech, Electrical Engineering Power 3 Years minimum experience Desirable: Qualification in Project Management Knowledge, skills and experience: Low, Medium and High Voltage switchgear Protection settings and Electrical calculations Hazardous Areas Desirable: Electrical Construction experience Smart Plant Electrical software E-Tap software
