A vacancy exists in the Industrial Watertube Boiler Division, Cape Town, for a person who has initiative and drive and is able to work under the pressure of handling all the electrical & instrumentation engineering aspects of several major boiler projects simultaneously. The position will involve travel locally and internationally for extensive periods, especially in Africa. The applicant will report to the Commissioning Manager Industrial Watertube boilers. CHARACTERISTICS  Have a better than average academic record, especially in the fields of Electrical, Instrumentation and Automatic controls.  Have good understanding of Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics.  Be able to interact with customers at all levels.  Have an appreciation of the commercial aspects of engineering contracts.  Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written in English. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  Commissioning of Industrial Watertube Boilers, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation.  Prepare operating and maintenance manuals and commissioning procedures.  Estimate and prepare proposals for electrical & instrumentation scope of supply for boiler enquiries.  Design of boiler controls and instrumentation, preparation of Instrument lists, I/O lists, P&ID's, EFD's, loop drawings, routing diagram, hook-ups, flow meter calculations, instrumentation specifications, instrument data sheets, instrument calibrations, procurement, project management, design of control philosophies, analogue diagrams, design of PLC & DCS cabinets, PLC & DCS programming, FAT's, installation supervision and commissioning.  Design or specify motor control centres, motor lists, cable sizing, cable schedules, I/O list, electrical wiring drawings, routing diagram, equipment sizing, equipment selection, equipment specifications, equipment data sheets, procurement, project management, FAT's, installation supervision and commissioning.  Cold and hot commissioning of boilers and combustion equipment, mechanical inspections, commissioning of fans, pumps, gearboxes, AC variable speed drives, burners, oil & gas systems, control valves, boiler refractory dry-outs, chemical boil-outs, setting of safety valves, boiler automatic controls tuning and setting up of controls. Complete performance testing of boilers, efficiency testing of boilers, boiler inspections and boiler operational fault finding. QUALIFICATIONS  Minimum BEng or BTech (Electrical or Mechatronic) EXPERIENCE  Candidates must have some practical experience in one or more of the above mentioned areas, 2 years experience will be advantageous.  Be proficient in Autocad, Excel and Word.  DCS and PLC & SCADA Programming experience would be an advantage.
