Skill Description Electrical Panel Building Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics to assemble and wire electrical panels according to specifications. Proficiency in using hand and power tools for cutting, drilling, and mounting components. Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to panel building. Industrial Site Installations Experience in installing electrical systems and components in industrial settings such as factories, warehouses, and manufacturing plants. Familiarity with various types of equipment, machinery, and systems commonly found in industrial environments. Ability to work with different voltage levels and electrical systems (e.g., single-phase, three-phase). Maintenance and Troubleshooting Proficiency in performing routine maintenance tasks on electrical equipment and systems to ensure their proper functioning and longevity. Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues, diagnose faults, and repair or replace faulty components efficiently to minimize downtime. Knowledge of testing equipment and techniques for troubleshooting electrical circuits. PLC knowledge Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) commonly used in industrial automation systems. Experience in integrating PLCs into industrial electrical systems to automate processes and improve efficiency. Knowledge of Instrumentation Commonly Used in the Industry Understanding of instrumentation commonly utilized in industrial environments, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and meters. Familiarity with various types of instrumentation systems and their applications in monitoring and controlling processes such as temperature, pressure, flow, and level. Ability to integrate instrumentation into electrical systems and troubleshoot instrumentation-related issues effectively. Equipment Operation Proficiency in operating specialized electrical equipment and tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and circuit testers. Ability to use equipment safely and accurately to perform various tasks related to electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Safety Compliance Understanding of safety protocols, regulations, and standards applicable to, but not limited to, electrical work in industrial environments (Occupational Health and Safety Act no. 85 of 1993). Knowledge of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage and adherence to safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. Electrical Code Compliance Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g. SANS 10142) governing electrical installations. Ability to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements during installation, maintenance, and repair activities. Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations and project requirements. Perform the installation of electrical equipment and machinery. Panel Building Constructing electrical panels based on project specifications. Ensuring the proper installation of control systems within panels. Conducting tests on panels to ensure functionality and adherence to quality standards. Site Maintenance and Evaluations Conduct regular on-site maintenance as required. Monitor and report on maintenance concerns. Compile and present maintenance reports. Conduct regular evaluations to ensure electrical installations comply with codes and safety regulations. Planning and costing for corrective measures based on evaluation outcomes. Commissioning Perform quality audits on completed installations and panel builds. Assist with commissioning of electrical equipment and machinery. Conduct tests to verify proper functionality and safety. Finalize project/ site installation by proper handover of as-built diagrams and manuals.
