Description We are looking to gain an experienced Electrician (Solar/PV) to oversee our company's electrical and solar planning, installation and maintenance. The ideal candidate must demonstrate confidence in their ability to do testing, trouble shooting and repairs. The successful candidate must have extensive experience working with solar including repairs and maintenance of all solar and electrical equipment components with a good understanding of the functionality of these items. He/she must also have a deep understanding of electrical solar systems, policies, procedures, and standards according to set regulations. He/she would need to identify potential issues early on so they can take steps to mitigate any problems before they become serious concerns. Responsibilities Electrical installation assessments (e.g. DB assessments). Quality assurance of electrical installations. Install data logging equipment to determine plant power consumption. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs. Advise Management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Update or create internal SLDs for properties and solar projects. Perform business related duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and assisting with ordering of supplies and equipment. Comply with standards and procedures of the industry and abide by the Safety Rules, adhering to strict health and safety guidelines. Determine critical vs non-critical load splits. Resource planning. Resource training. Maintenance schedule, including PV Modules Maintenance, Inspection of PV Array Structure, Inspect Inverters & Corrective Maintenance. Plant Monitoring, respond to all alarms triggered on solar plant. Resolve all trips on the solar plant as soon as possible. Diagnose and replace PV panels if required. Attend to all breakdowns, do fault finding/root cause analysis and resolve, fix or replace faulty equipment with minimal energy loss. Infrared Red scans of panels, AJBs, GJBs, transformers and inverters. Maintain solar/diesel Hybrid system, including batteries. Risk Management Perform cost estimates and prepare proposals. Track actual project costs against budgeted costs and proactively address potential problems. Develop project schedules and execute according to plan. Compete risk assessments. Prepare monthly reports. Ensure compliance with relevant Acts and minimize business risk. Requirements Minimum N3 with Electrical Red Seal qualification preferred. Minimum 5 years utility experience Minimum 3 years working knowledge of PV plants Assessments of buildings and drawing up of SLDs Experience with switching LV, MV and HV systems Lock-out, Tag-out procedure Working knowledge of power system protection. Able to interpret single line diagrams and schematics. Able to analyse data, investigate and report on trends.
