PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provide all-inclusive asset management for the safe and efficient operations of plant and equipment at the two facilities. Ensure all asset management functions are planned; competent and adequate resources are allocated; competencies are acquired and developed; introduce a culture of prevention and continual improvement.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum BEng/BSc or BTech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- Government Certificate Competency (GCC Factories) as pre-requisite; registration as Pr Eng preferred
- Must have at least 6 years of experience in Mechanical & Electrical maintenance in a Manufacturing
- Plant environment of which 3 years should have been in a management role.
- Experience in Project Management would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of hazardous chemicals is preferred
- Proven knowledge and experience in steam generation (Boilers Management) and air compressors preferred
- Sound knowledge of OHS Act and Legal Liability, including ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 standards
- Performance and strategic management skills
- Financial management skills would be advantageous
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO
Appointed as designated competent person under OHS Act, General Machinery Regulation 2.1
Maintenance Systems
- Ensure plant and equipment availability to meet production schedules and delivery dates
- Provide advanced technical guidance and advisory service to own staff and all other departments
- Implement reporting and control measures for improvement of maintenance efficiencies
- (cost, quality, equipment availability)
Planning
- Initiate continuous improvement programs to ensure optimal maintenance capability
- Develop and implement a strategic plan (1-3 years) to address upgrading of plants and replacement
- of obsolete equipment
- Maintain the ERP plant equipment data
- Draw up, approve, and schedule maintenance tasks for preventative maintenance as per production schedules
Leadership and management
- Ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements with regard to plant and equipment
- Establish training requirements for all maintenance disciplines
- Develop succession plans for all maintenance disciplines
- Develop internal maintenance policies in line with broader company policies
- Contract and assess subordinates through proper goal alignment & calibrate results of assessments
- across departments
- Effectively communicate and build relationships with peers, subordinates, senior management and customers
Management of Steam Generation Facility
- Schedule and generation of steam to all production facilities according to their production schedules.
- Monitor efficiency of boilers and planning of coal and oil deliveries.
- Ensure 3 yearly statutory inspections, repairs and any other required maintenance requirements are completed
- Monitor and ensure boiler emissions are within limits as per the relevant Atmospheric Emissions
- Licence Site Services
- Maintenance of the sites terrain and piping infrastructure
- Compressed air supply to all facilities
- Electricity supply to all facilities, monitoring and measuring per facility
- Water supply to all facilities, monitoring and measuring per facility
- Maintenance of the buildings on the two sites
- Contract technical scoping and administration (maintenance services)
- Contractor management for maintenance work
- Perform Audits across different disciplines and implement corrective actions for audit findings in own responsibility areas.
- Incident Investigations, findings and corrective actions for Engineering facilities
- Assess safety consequences of any modification/change in plant and equipment.
