Estimator (Junior) - Blackheath - Cape Town Region

Purpose of the position: To accurately assess and estimate the costs associated with repairing damaged vehicles, facilitating transparent communication with clients and ensuring the smooth execution of repair processes. The role is essential for providing customers and insurance companies with reliable information to make informed decisions about vehicle repairs. Please note: Audatex experience and knowledge of all insurance companies is advantageous. Regular assigned tasks and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Vehicle Damage Assessment: Inspecting vehicles to assess the extent of damage to the bodywork, frame, and other components. Identifying and documenting all visible and hidden damages. Estimation of Repair Costs: Calculating the estimated cost of repairs based on the assessment of damages. Considering labor, materials, and any additional parts or services required. Use of Estimating Software: Utilizing specialized estimating software (such as Audatex, as mentioned in the original text) to generate accurate repair estimates. Ensuring that the estimates align with industry standards and insurance guidelines. Communication with Clients: Interacting with vehicle owners or insurance representatives to discuss the estimated repair costs and the proposed repair process. Providing clear explanations of the estimated work to be performed. Photography and Documentation: Taking photographs of the damaged areas of the vehicle to support the estimation process. Documenting all relevant information about the damages, including pre-existing conditions. Quoting and Proposal: Generating and presenting repair quotes or proposals to customers and insurance companies. Negotiating and explaining the estimated costs as needed. Knowledge of Panel Beating Processes: Understanding the various panel beating processes, including stripping, assembling, welding, cutting, and the use of body filler. Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service by addressing customer concerns, answering questions, and maintaining positive relationships. Coordination with Other Departments: Collaborating with other departments within the body shop, such as panel beaters and cost clerks, to ensure accurate and efficient repair processes. Quality Assurance: Ensuring that repair estimates align with the quality standards set by the body shop.
