Reference: JHB003617-LF-1An exciting new opportunity for a 5 year contract term has opened for the Executive Director: Office Of The Vice Chancellor, coordinating key executive portfolios and special VC office projects as an extension of the Vice-Chancellor's strategic oversight role. The direct strategic leadership oversight functions include Institutional Planning and Quality Enhancement, Student Affairs, Institutional Advancement, Institutional Renewal, and Transformation as well as the Risk oversight function. In doing so, the Executive Director: Office of the VC ensures effective and efficient processes for monitoring, evaluation, and improvement of the university and operationalizing the vision of the future.Key Performance AreasUnder the direction of the VC, participate in the compilation of the strategic vision of the University.Plan for, produce, execute, and implement the relevant institutional planning documents (e.g. strategic, operational, and other project plans) as it pertains to this portfolio.Ideal Qualifications & ExperienceDoctorateMinimum Qualifications & ExperienceMaster’s degree.Minimum of 10 years' experience within the public university environment, of which 5 years should be at senior academic, senior support, or has been identified as an emerging leader to or acted for a significant period at senior leadership level.Demonstrated track record in managing a complex academic and administrative services portfolio, division, or unit.Extensive experience in leading and managing an organisation’s academic strategy, administrative, and operations, and organisational performance.Demonstrated leadership and teamwork ability both intra-organizationally and externally.Demonstrated experience in visionary, strategic thinking, planning, and operationalizing at an institutional or divisional level.Understands the policy, regulatory, and development agenda in the higher education sector in South Africa.Extensive knowledge of the strategic intent, tactics, and operations of the university’s internal and external environment.Understands and operates confidently in diverse organizational settings and sensitively across various cultures.Sound strategic, financial, and operational management skills.Excellent human relations and people management skills.The ability to lead, motivate, and innovate systems and processes and be oriented towards outputs and outcomes. Strategic leadership oversight to the Section for Institutional Planning & Quality Enhancement including: Institutional Planning including strategic planning Academic Planning Risk Management Management Information Services Institutional Research Quality Enhancement Strategic leadership oversight to the Audit unit including: Strategic implementation of a comprehensive program of risk-based Internal Audit to add value and improve the operations of the university. Effective internal audit management and execution. Enhancement of the university’s governance, risk management, and internal control environment. Implementation and monitoring of the Fraud Prevention Programme. Reporting to relevant university statutory structures and committees. Providing strategic leadership oversight to Institutional Renewal and Transformation including: Enhancement of transformation across the university in all aspects of operation, both at transformational and transformative levels. The identification of transformation risks and controls. The Development of transformation policies and procedures. Transformation Projects and Transformation Plan Participation in the institutional transformation processes, through support, motivation, communication, and management of change in the institution. Reporting on and evaluating institutional renewal and transformation. Providing strategic leadership oversight to Risk and Strategic projects including: The governance of risk and enterprise risk management functions to add value and contribute to the achievement of the strategic goals of the University. Provide strategic direction, support, and assurance to Management, Council, and relevant Committees concerning the major university functions of risk management, compliance, business continuity, ethics, investigations health and safety, environmental sustainability, insurance, and strategic projects.
