A 45-hectare farm, at the base of the Paardeberg Mountain, is seeking a Farm Manager who has a passion for sustainable and small-scale farming practices. The farm encompasses a vineyards spanning 12 hectares a 500-tree olive grove; an Nguni herd and a flock of sheep. On the farm, there is a Manor House and cottage which is rented out for holiday lets. In addition, there is a small 80 ton winery. The appointed Farm Manager will reside on-site, enjoying a considerable degree of autonomy in farm management. Additionally, he will be overseeing the maintenance of the infrastructure i.e. manor house and a small winery. Managing day-to-day operations and strategic management of a diverse farm. Crop Management: Prepare plans and schedules for planting and harvesting; Ensure staff understands expectations related to crop cultivation; Supervise production and manage various processes of the vineyards and olive grove. Livestock Management: Feeding and general care taking of livestock; Regularly inspect livestock to ensure they are disease free. Preparation for audits (WIETA and IPW); and supervision of the processes. Monitor essential supplies such as fertilisers and pesticides. Repair and maintenance of all buildings on the farm. Schedule repairs, maintenance and replacements of farm equipment and machinery. Manage the marketing and sales of farm products. Monitor expenses and revenue to ensure financial stability. Build and maintain professional networks within the agricultural community. Supervise the management of the gardens and ensure the farm is kept tidy. Responsible for all security on the farm including working with alarm company and farm watch. Bachelor's degree in agriculture or related field. Extensive experience in a farming-related field. Previous managerial experience is essential. Proficiency in staff management, motivation and empowerment. Previous experience with wine grapes / vineyards essential. Knowledge and experience in livestock management. Fluent in English (Reading, writing and speaking). In addition Afrikaans is essential.
