CapeNature Conservation seeks to appoint a dynamic individual to implement and assist with, invasive alien plant clearing projects, fire management, ecological data collection, monitoring, infrastructure maintenance, and law enforcement and compliance monitoring at Marloth Nature Reserve. RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement Eco-Matrix and Integrated Catchment Management Undertake ecological data collections and monitoring Undertake and assist with invasive alien plant control Undertake firefighting operations Assist with and undertake environmental education Assist with and undertake maintenance of all infrastructure Supervisory and Administrative Duties Supervise EPWP teams and undertake quality control of tasks Implement Annual Plan of Operations and ecological matrix Support role in effective management of the Protected Area Undertake Environmental Control Officer duties from time to time Do required daily, weekly and monthly administration work, including issuing of permits and receiving of money Assist with control and management of assets Perform Legal Compliance Quality Assurance and OHS Carry out law enforcement patrols Provide support to Conservation Services during law enforcement operations Assist with search and rescue operations Implement Occupational Health and Safety policies and guidelines Do Environmental Control Officer duties Infrastructure and Equipment Carry out repairs and maintenance of infrastructure Assist with maintenance and service of facilities Maintain vehicles and equipment Transport of staff/equipment MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 At least two (2) years of job-related experience A valid driver’s license with 2 years of driving experience Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Knowledge and experience in ecological monitoring and law enforcement Knowledge and experience in Fire Fighting Experience in environmental awareness and community engagement No Criminal Record Competencies Willingness to work weekend shifts and irregular hours. Physical fitness and ability to perform field ranger duties in difficult mountainous terrain. Strong analytical, strategic, and creative problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and tight deadlines. Bilingualism in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape Good project planning and organizing skills. Ability to function independently and within a team.
