FGW Generators in Cape Town is looking to employ a Field service technician / mechanic x 2 The successful candidate will be required to assist the service and workshop team by providing an efficient technical and mechanical service, as well as electrical services.Reporting: This position reports to the Service Manager. Job Objectives: · Perform maintenance services on diesel generators as main duty · Diagnosis and fault finding where necessary · Assist with generator set breakdowns and any other general duties · Test run generators to gauge performance · Maintaining detailed records of the services/callouts · Available for after hours and/or standby time (after probation period) · Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist · Adhering to warranty procedures · Maintain a clean and safe work environment Providing customers with excellent service: Ensuring that work is carried out to FGW generators standard and as arranged / agreed with customers.Provide customer feedback.Relay customer queries to the Service management team. To be financially profitable: Conduct services and call outs in an efficient and cost-effective manner.Minimise wastage.Adhere to stock control. Qualification & Job Experience: · Code 8 Drivers licence · Applicants must have completed a trade test or tertiary qualification for Diesel Mechanic ()Red Seal) · Have at least 5 years post qualification experience · Knowledge and field experience of various engine brand, i.e. Scania, Perkins, Mitsubishi · Knowledge of controllers (DSE/Insight/Woodward) preferable · Be able to communicate respectfully with all customers and employees Key Competencies: Excellent technical ability and diagnostic skills.Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.Able to work under pressure.Attention to detail and demonstrates a ‘right first time’ approach.Excellent Customer skills.
