To improve profitability of the distribution Centre by analyzing, reviewing, and managing financial, risk and partnering/supporting inventory, inbound and outbound operations to ensure they adherence to financial and budget requirements by driving process improvements. Support business in appraisals, and post evaluations. Review, monitor and enforce financial controls and compliance across the distribution center. Monitor and mitigate risks. · To co-ordinate and plan the distribution centre's annual budget as well as forecasts within the agreed business objectives to measure the DC's annual financial performance · To compile the distribution centre's monthly financial statements and business review · reports, clearly indicating deviations to targets and to investigate appropriate actions required to remedy these deviations. · To ensure compliance to financial policies and procedures, thereby ensuring compliance with internal controls and reducing risk within the distribution centre together with satisfying the internal and external auditors' recommendations. · Ensure that the financial viability of projects within the distribution centre is aligned to business objectives by ensuring the return on investment for capex is achieved. · To develop understanding around financial decision making as well as understanding financial statements to ensure that management can make sound business decisions. · To manage administrative functions, including export documentation within the distribution centre, ensuring compliance with legislation and business policies and procedures. · To analyse inventory and shrinkage movements as well as the review of goods in transit with a view to reducing the risk of financial loss and enabling the accurate replenishment of stores. · To manage the Central Audit Process (CAP) to ensure that stores are compensated adequately for picking inaccuracies and to determine the reason for inaccuracies to recommend improvements. · To take responsibility for and appropriately manage the staff compliment by empowering, developing, and ensuring performance and delivery of targets. · To manage outsourced facilities management business partners, to ensure adherence to service level agreement thereby achieving best value for the distribution centre. · Responsible for preparation and interpretation, of management accounts and analytical reviews, including cost and income relationship of financial and non-financial metrics incorporating all drivers of profitability and balance sheet, drawing insight to the factors that influence the financial outcomes to alert and guide business accordingly. · To plan, budget and forecast by engaging with line management in the formulation of financial projections within defined parameters thereby aligning to business objectives and monitor business performance to the set financial targets. · To ensure that the business benefit cases are realised, by controlling, monitoring of the business assets and through pre and post evaluation of capital expenditure. · To ensure alignment of business processes controls and business rules by contributing to well-defined SOPs / policies that has a direct financial impact on the business. · To optimise the working capital by ensuring and monitoring that the cash forecast by day is in line with budgets and previous forecasts, through enforcing predictability and mitigating advanced planning of spend across the business. · To review and identify risks and monitor ongoing mitigation or compensating controls, validating sustainability of the business, through formal reviews and collaboration with each department. Requirements Education: · Essential: CA / CIMA / B.Com · Desirable: Articles Subjects: 3rd Year Accounting, 3rd Year Auditing · Desirable: Chartered Institute of South Africa · Essential (articles is an advantage) Experience · Essential: Demonstrated forecasting abilities in a logistics environment, risk assessment, productivity improvements, cost improvements, stock flow · Essential: Minimum of 3-5 years' experience · Essential: Min 1 year of staff management · Essential: Min 3 years of auditing · Essential: Min 3 years of accounting experience in FMCG · Project management experience within logistics environment · Desirable: 1 year of experience using SAP, SCM and MMS · Desirable: 1 year of experience using a warehouse management system Competencies : · Deciding and Initiating Action · Leading and Supervising · Persuading and Influencing · Presenting and Communicating Information · Writing and Reporting · Applying Expertise and Technology · Analysing · Planning and Organising · Coping with Pressures and Setbacks · Entrepreneurial and Commercial Thinking Skills: · Strong business acumen · Sound interpersonal and influencing skills · Strong management reporting, control and risk management skills · Communication and presentation skills · Advanced spread sheet modelling (e.g. Excel) Knowledge: · Management accounting and analysis · Knowledge of financial accounting, statutory standards, audit standards, investigative and forensic knowledge · Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations · Project management · Process optimisation and audit trails · IT systems and process understanding · Knowledge of the logistics and distribution environment Personal Competencies: · Analysing · Delivering Results and Meeting Customer Expectations · Presenting and Communicating Information · Planning and Organising · Working with People · Adhering to Principles and Values · Following Instructions and Procedures · Adapting and Responding to Change
