The sucessful candidate will be expected to gather data from internal systems to support financial data as reported in Pastel, analyse data from internal systems to support the IFRS17 standard and application thereof, reconcile data between internal systems and Pastel, and integrate internal systems with Vena database. Gathering data from internal systems to support financial data as reported in Pastel; Analyse data from internal systems to support the IFRS17 standard and application thereof; Reconciliation of data between internal systems and Pastel; Integration of internal systems with Vena database; Formatting of Vena data to prepare it for the IFRS 17 system, "Risk Integrity"; Analysing outputs from Risk Integrity and assist with the conversion of this data to be imported into Pastel; Assist with Pastel setup to incorporate IFRS17 journals and processing; Assist in drafting and finalising the various positioning papers; Assist in various automation projects: (GROUP) Vena reports; (GROUP) Fixed asset reporting automation; (GROUP) Billings/Unmets/Bank charges: Figaro project; (LIFE) Claims/Reinsurance/Encashments/Refunds: processes with other internal systems & reconciliations. System maintenance/improvements/upgrades: Pastel; EPS/GPS; Banking systems. Continuously review all SOP's and update where relevant. Maintain the Group Finance SOP register. Be able to step in in Ashlyn's absence relating to all his IFRS17/VENA/Risk Integrity functions and processes. Managing and mentoring of finance staff. Train all new finance appointments on the relevant processes within the department. Monitoring of Group Expenses; reporting on variances and propose efficiencies to bring costs down. On-going internal controls review (incl. Heat chart, Key controls and Fraud sheet). BCom Accounting degree; System knowledge of Pastel and Vena; Good knowledge and understanding of IFRS17 principles; Finance experience, with experience leading a team at a senior level; Experience in working with business unit leadership teams; Good IT system knowledge. Good IFRS technical knowledge; Communication skills ; Interpersonal skills ; Critical thinking skills ; Ability to work under pressure; Good written and verbal skills; Ability to work independently as well as within a team; Strategic and analytical thinking and problem solving skills; Strong work ethic, motivation and drive.
