CORE PURPOSE OF JOB |
The purpose of this post is to manage and coordinate appropriate and effective institution-wide new student orientation programmes and resource centres in order to facilitate a smooth transition of new students into the academic and social culture of the University as directed in accordance with the mission and vision. |
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS |
- To develop and coordinate an appropriate and effective Orientation Programme for new students across the University;
- To promote an ongoing supportive institutional environment for students through the planning coordination and development of communication, resources and services;
- To network with internal and external partners;
- To deliver programmes and services by means of direct orientation, consultation, training and media communication;
- To report to and perform administrative functions for designated University Committees.

CORE COMPETENCIES | |
- An in-depth understanding of and experience in new student orientation programmes and services with regard to student access, retention and throughput principles and best practices;
- A thorough understanding of the counselling and developmental resource needs of students;
- Have proven coordination skills;
- Possess strong networking skills;
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Have proven attributes of transparency, integrity and teamwork.

REQUIREMENTS | |
In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates should have complied with the following requirements: - Minimum requirement is M+3 qualification. Honours and Masters could be an added advantage.
- 3 -5 years relevant working experience including relevant management experience.
