Responsible to supervise, manage and schedule all aspects relating to transporting of cargo for clients, which include, supervising Night shift responsibilities & Weekend employee(s) duties, management of drivers as well as timeously communication with clients etc. Responsible for the Supervision of Nightshift employee(s) duties by, inspecting temperature accuracy, inspecting departure times, inspecting route accuracy, inspecting loading accuracy, and inspecting Sleeping time / unauthorized traveling after set company hours. Responsible for loading and truck scheduling, by retrieving loads from client/plants, comparing loads against available trucks, enquiring extra loads when trucks exceed booked loads, recruit outside contractors should loads exceed truck availability and building effective relationships with sub-contractors to assist with trucks. Ensure daily updating of the operations fleet board as per load bookings. Ensure that trucks with exceptional needs are priorities (such as Services / C.O.F / Repairs / Fridge services / Polygraph test etc.) Allocate standing time on company vehicles where truck did not offload via emails regularly. Accountable to manage drivers of allocated truck by, conducting daily planning on correct loads, assist drivers with direction to clients and correct routes towards loading points, follow up on with Driver / regularly until breakdown is resolved. assisting and prioritising drivers with exceptional needs (weekends off and personal issues) and warrant effective execution briefing and debriefing of drivers. Accountable for client management through, adhering to offloading and loading slot times, Daily updating client system ( Load sheet / Internet based ) were necessary based on different client requirements, keeping clients updated on relevant information such a s possible estimated time of Arrival / Unforeseen truck Delays/Breakdowns or accidents and provide them plan of action and /or requesting assistance from client when it comes to offloading or loading points if required. Oversee pallet controls, by ensure pallets are returned as per required “Chep” portfolio plus system as well as documentation were applicable, provide feedback to the pallet department on outstanding department and report pallet damages or shortages timeously to department before trucks depart from relevant client. Furthermore, ensure to timeously debrief drivers about Collecting pallets were possible and on route. Report breakdown to Relevant manager timeously when informed, assist and liaise with the breakdown manager to ensure necessary steps are taken to secure load form any risk factors until the breakdown has been resolved Regulating truck breakdowns (accidents) by, ensuring broken down trailers are reloaded onto working trailer or a recovery truck is sent to offload cargo on a broken-down horse as soon as possible. Regulate cargo Shortages/damages/theft: By immediately reporting it to relevant client while truck is still at the offloading destination, reporting on tampered seals, reporting it to the relevant department to prepare needed documentation where required (load from/polygraphs) and record all occurrences in the incident register. Responsible for the Supervision of Weekend employee(s) duties by: Inspecting all region night shift control sheets. Inspecting temperature accuracy on all areas including depots, Inspecting loading accuracy on all areas. Follow up on outstanding breakdowns from night shift controller. Ensure all loads are loaded at all allocated regions Monitor temperature during day shift. Offloading vehicles (Saturday's / Sunday's) all allocated regions. Ensure all breakdown are resolved within a reasonable time. Ensure driver weekend off dates are correctly recorded onto the Fleet board. Updating Fleet board with necessary changes during night shift all allocated regions. Ensure Weekend Night shift schedules are completed during day shift – all allocated regions. Ensure services and C.O.F are done during weekends. Follow up on available empty trucks and trailers from depots during weekends. Inspecting trailer and horse damages during weekends and report to necessary departments. Insure all drivers' departure at correct times during weekend in order to arrive at offloading destination timeously. Accountable for Ad-hoc duties such as, ensuring all truck and trailers receives the required C.O.F documentation timeously, obtain approval from relevant managers for the repair of damages based on quotations received, appointment and placement of drivers as well calculating load quotations. Responsible to issue gates passes to allocated drives. Inspecting & investigate all allocated vehicles in depots for damages and obtain proof if required. Furthermore, when required liaise with company workshop on progress of damage repairs. Accountable for general administration which includes but are not limited to, assisting with POD enquiries, outstanding load-cons, price disputes and monthly trailer reconciliation. Comply with all company policy and Procedures at all times. Assist, supervise and mentor junior controllers where required. Accountable for staff management relating to the, management of leave applications, performance management and disciplinary matters, if/when junior staff reports to you. Assist with company disciplinary matter, by either initiating or testifying at/in a disciplinary inquiry if/when required (this includes testifying at bargaining council or CCMA). Ability to organize, delegate and meet strict deadlines. Demonstrate high levels or quality, focus and attention to detail. Consist ability to manage multiple task and prioritize workload. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Solid knowledge and understanding of Microsoft related programs. Computer literate. Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to confidently communicate with Senior Management. Ability to take Initiative and be self-sufficient. Bilingual (English & Afrikaans). National Matric Certificate (Grade 12). 2 years' experience as a fleet scheduler. Previous experience in transport industry (advantage). Apply Now
