Komatsu has an opportunity for a driven and ambitious Foreman with exceptional technical skills to join our team at Equipment Workshop-Field Service in Germiston. The successful candidate will have a relevant trade (Millwright preferred), extensive experience in a workshop environment in heavy equipment machinery/construction and 2 or more years supervisory experience in a unionised environment. Plan: Drafts and/or authorises quotations for work Adheres to procedures relating to the vetting of new suppliers and loading financial control information on the system. Entering/updating short term & long term preventative maintenance activities, including shut downs, backlog and opportunity maintenance. Plans maintenance for units under warranty Arranging for checking of parts stock holding to meet needs and the expediting of parts Liaising with/and gaining input from stakeholders with regard to determining priorities and work to be completed. Benchmarking maintenance tasks and highlight trends and exceptions with recommendations for continuous improvement. Planning service in response to failure of equipment In conjunction with all stakeholders assessing and diagnosing nature of the problem and schedules date, time and resources. Drafting & authorising quotations for work Participates in the planning of consumables and other inventory items required for repairs and maintenance. Authorises job / work order costs (including overtime). Authorises the payment of creditors Plans for overhaul of equipment with regard to time, workshop, materials/stock, working time & gains approval. Obtains all relevant manuals and resources and makes this available for the execution of work Checks that tools/equipment required for work are available and in good working order Remains abreast of changes/decisions implemented with regard to key issues/problems/improvements. Execute: Oversees the warranty claim process Liaises with internal stakeholders with regard to warranty claims and reasons for claim Plans and participates in audits. Implement the Komatsu Way 5Ss - sorting, organising, cleaning, ordering and training Adheres to SHEQ policies and procedures Instructs / imparts knowledge and procedures to colleagues Checks that subordinate staff have understood safety instructions Complies with and Instructs colleagues and subordinate staff in the wearing of protective gear and clothing Solves problems and issues with regard to the physical workshop environment. Agrees work steps and technical issues Authorises orders for relevant parts and stock for execution of task Monitors Work In Progress. Supervises and controls machine/equipment inspections for compliance & quality control in (Reman – in conjunction with Quality Controller for final inspection). Monitor & Control: Controls and monitors the asset register Adheres to and monitors adherence to Financial Policies and Procedure Verifies that information on quotations, invoices and receipts are correct Checks that filing of required source documents (paper files) are up-to-date Oversees and checks that systems data is correct and up-to-date Assists in the follow-up of outstanding debtors Enables a productive environment Monitors the workshop environment for cleanliness and SHE compliance Monitors/Supervises physical security of workshop, yard and assets Oversees the usage and safekeeping of equipment, such as testing devices, electronic equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. Monitors health and safety risks in the physical workshop environment – such as servicing of fire extinguishers, clear signage, etc. Monitors the receipt of machines/equipment and stock for the workshop. Report: Drafts financial reports vs budget Resolves financial issues & queries Reports on warranty claims Collates metrics for reporting purposes Reports on workshop equipment damage, inventory, costs, required upgrades, space usage, workflow and maintenance. Reports on overhaul statistics, problems, issues and product feedback Reports on cost recovery, parts usage, etc. Produces consolidated reports on field service and job costs Provides feedback to Product Support on technical issues/problems & warranty information Reports damage or abuse of machines. REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12/Matric/NCV/N3 National Technical Certificate Trade Test Certificate-Millwright 4-6 years’ experience in Heavy Earthmoving Equipment 2 years supervisory experience SAP and Microsoft Office experience Experience in a unionised environment Experience in a workshop environment within the heavy earth moving/mining industry Planning, scheduling and “project management” type experience is essential (Gantt Charts, Progress Reports) Experience in Reporting COMPETENCIES: The ability to act as a go between or intercessor in the resolution of conflict between people or groups of people The ability to set session objectives and to facilitate a group of people to work together as a team to achieving the session objectives. The ability to apply previous experience in a technical/functional field in order to determine accurate allocation of people/person hours required to complete a unit of work/project. The ability to lead and use personal communication style to gain buy-in/approvals from stakeholders, report accurately and clearly on progress, to resolve issues and to maintain progress of a team/s with regard to a project or a body of work.
