Cedar Wood Recruitment is now recruiting for the position of GENERAL ASSISTANT/FRONT OF HOUSE at an internationally acclaimed lodge in the heart of the Anglo-Zulu War battlefields in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The successful candidate must be totally fluent in verbal and written English, as the candidate will be dealing with predominantly British guests and tour operators. She/he must be able to work under pressure and have excellent and consistent attention to detail, be guest focused, have a positive outlook, be an excellent team player, committed, hardworking and eager to learn. Previous relevant experience is essential Key Performance Areas We are looking for a general assistant whose duties will include, but not be limited to… Assist with housekeeping Assist in kitchen Assist front of house and reservations Host guests (staff often dine with guests) - this is a requirement and culture expected of all staff who work at the Lodge Provide relief/cover in all positions when staff are on leave The ability to speak Zulu would be an advantage. Requirements: Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience 100% fluent in English Well spoken Confident and at ease when holding a conversation with international British guests Good general knowledge about South Africa, its history and diverse cultures and world events Drivers licence essential Relevant experience in a similar upmarket lodge Matric/Grade 12 Relevant qualifications for the position Excellent guest relation skills Excellent organisation and administrative skills Personal/Professional Attributes Confident Highly presentable Calm demeanor when under stress Hardworking with well-developed work ethos Able to prioritise and manage tasks and deliverables Exceptional telephone manner Responsible and honest with well-developed personal values system Quick innovative thinker Well-developed people skills displaying tolerance, patience and care Able to remain focused and professional Excellent attention to detail Team player with positive attitude, enthusiasm and emotional control Excellent time management and self-discipline Well-developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills Proactive, uses initiative and creative flair when required Committed and loyal Adaptable and flexible Remuneration and Package From R8000pm – negotiable and dependent on experience Live in - Accommodation is a serviced en suite room All laundry and meals are included 7 days leave per month and 3 weeks long leave after 1 years’ service Comfortable living in a rural area The position is available immediately.
