The purpose of this position is to plan, lead, organise and control the activities of the PBM business unit to ensure that the unit meets the Scheme's service level requirements for the PBM contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, driving business deliverables and ensuring the organization's overall delivery on contractual obligations. The General Manager will play a pivotal role in strategic relationships and team leadership. Duties and Responsibilities Lead and manage daily operations to ensure efficiency, quality and optimal use of Collaborate with department heads to streamline processes and improve overall operational effectiveness. Manage a high-performance team on a day to day business ensuing a collaborative work environment, promoting professional development and teamwork. Interact and build strong business relationships with the Scheme, Service Provider Network as well as with key strategic business partners. Ensure that the PBM unit consistently meets the Scheme's service level requirements and operational deadlines including: Evaluate current operational processes and identify areas for improvement and Optimise workflows, reduce costs and enhance overall Ensure that the PBM unit is patient-centric and supports the Scheme's strategic objectives Ensure that standard operating procedures are compiled, implemented and maintained for each functional area. Ensure that the PBM business unit complies with both the external SOPs as well the Internal SOPs and policies. Ensure that quality control processes are developed and Plan staffing and ensure that resources are appropriately deployed to meet varying operational requirements. Establish key performance indicators (KPI's) to measure and analyse operational performance Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands and deadlines Experience and Qualifications Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree is ESSENTIAL Master's in Business Administration Degree advantageous Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged Minimum of 5 years' senior management experience within the medical scheme Understanding of the PBM environment Experience in and understanding of medicine utilisation and costs in a medical scheme, and analyses pertaining thereto.
