General Secretary - Johannesburg


Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategy: Shape and execute our clients strategic vision, ensuring alignment with organisational policies and operational plans.
  • Collective Bargaining: Oversee the collective bargaining and ensure that the industry collective bargaining agreements are promulgated, and the necessary steps are taken for the extension of the collective agreement to non-parties.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee organisational functions to meet stakeholder needs and strategic objectives.
  • Financial Management: Ensure financial stability and compliance within budgetary guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, serving as the chief spokesperson.
  • Ethical Governance: Uphold corporate governance standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Human Capital Management- To ensure the appropriateness of organisational structures and adequacy of staffing suitably qualified and experienced people. To agree and meet transformation goals and develop staff through the implementation of a performance management process.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Relevant B Degree or Post Graduate Degree in Finance, Labour Law, Legal Administrative or related fields.
  • 10 12 years of experience at Operational level, of which 5 should be at Senior Management level, preferably within the industry.
  • Proven ability to administer a wide range of collective agreements will be an advantage
  • Proficient in negotiation, and relationship management.
  • Strong financial planning, and financial management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including visionary leadership and accountability.

Remuneration:
The remuneration package for this position is competitive and commensurate with its seniority.
