As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing geographic data and creating spatial visualizations to support various projects and initiatives within the organization. Leveraging your expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide insights, solve spatial problems, and contribute to data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a solid understanding of GIS principles, and the ability to effectively communicate complex spatial information to non-technical stakeholders. Geospatial Data Analysis : Acquire, process, and analyse geospatial data from a variety of sources, including satellite imagery, aerial surveys, GPS data, and demographic datasets. Perform spatial analyses, including spatial queries, proximity analysis, network analysis, and spatial interpolation, to derive meaningful insights and patterns from geographic data. Map Creation and Visualization: Design and create maps, cartographic products, and spatial visualizations to communicate complex spatial information effectively to stakeholders. Utilize GIS software and tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapidea) to produce high-quality maps, thematic maps, heat maps, and other spatial representations. Data Management and Quality Assurance: Manage geospatial databases, including data storage, organization, and maintenance, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and completeness. Conduct data quality assessments and validation checks to identify and resolve errors, inconsistencies, and discrepancies in geospatial datasets. Spatial Modelling and Forecasting: Develop and implement spatial models and algorithms to predict spatial patterns, trends, and future scenarios based on historical data and spatial variables. Use spatial statistics and modelling techniques, such as regression analysis, geostatistics, and machine learning, to analyse and forecast spatial phenomena. GIS Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain GIS applications, tools, and web mapping applications to facilitate data visualization, analysis, and decision-making. Customize and configure GIS software, scripts, and plugins to meet specific project requirements and workflow automation needs. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including urban planners, environmental scientists, engineers, and business analysts, to integrate GIS analysis into project workflows and decision-making processes. Communicate GIS findings, insights, and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders through presentations, reports, and interactive maps. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and support to internal stakeholders on GIS software, tools, and techniques, helping them leverage GIS capabilities in their respective roles. Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in GIS and spatial analysis, and share knowledge and expertise with colleagues. - Tertiary qualification in Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree or GIS certification is preferred. - Proven experience in GIS analysis, spatial data management, and cartography, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role. - Proficiency in GIS software and tools, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar and spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL). - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct spatial analyses, interpret results, and derive actionable insights. - Solid understanding of spatial analysis techniques, including spatial statistics, spatial interpolation, and network analysis. - Excellent cartographic and data visualization skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling maps and spatial visualizations. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. - Detail-oriented mindset, with a commitment to data accuracy, quality assurance, and documentation best practices in GIS analysis and data management.
