BSc Graduate Development Programme VACANCY A leading exporter and innovative grower of berries have been growing berries for more than 20 years in South Africa. We are passionate about changing people’s lives. We deliver integrated solutions by understanding grower’s needs. They passionately believe in a triple bottom line approach to business, and are recruiting graduate berries growers who are passionate, motivated, and eager to improve themselves, for their comprehensive 2-year Graduate Development Programme. During the two-year programme the graduate will develop into a professional grower. He/she will be assisted by a coach/mentor, getting the opportunity to sample 2-4 rotations, offering a broad range of challenging responsibilities, international where appropriate. Supplementing practical training he/she will join formal courses specific to growing and leadership skills. Progress will be regularly checked and at the end of each year he/she will demonstrate new skills and knowledge during assessments as well as a final assignment before completing the programme. Requirements: B. Agric or BSc. Agric in Agriculture, Horticulture or Plant Production, or a National Diploma or BTech Good understanding, (experience), and knowledge of good agronomic practices 1 - 3 years’ experience in growing crops. Technical knowledge of crops, horticultural products, and farming practices Practical, not scared to get hands dirty, will be in field most of the day, we are not looking for graduates with a focus on lab/science research focused We need individuals with a passion for plants and planting and a passion for the berry industry, and to be out in nature and on the go Good in working with people, will initially manage small group of workers, good communication skills and conflict resolution skills Computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages Active, high energy and assertive with a high level of tenacity – people that can despite circumstances being difficult and hard can pull through and get things done and not take things personally. As mentioned before due to the fast pace it is sometimes not possible to be ‘nice’ so we need graduates with that level of tenacity to hang in there and to get the job done, no matter what. Motivated to improve yourself. Attention to detail. Ideal candidates will have a B.Sc. or B. Tech in Agronomy or Horticulture with a minimum of 1-3 years of practical experience preferably in berries, soft fruit or table grapes. Apply Now
