Position Summary: The position requires slaughtering animals in accordance with Islamic principles. The process involves specific guidelines and responsibilities to ensure that the meat is considered permissible (halal) for consumption by followers of Islam. Responsibilities: This position requires the following for a Halal slaughter, also known as Zabiha, involve following specific Islamic principles and practices to ensure the meat is considered permissible (Halal) for consumption by Muslims. Here are the key responsibilities for individuals involved in Halal slaughter: Qualification and Training: o Individuals involved in Halaal slaughter should be qualified and trained in the principles of Islamic slaughter. o Knowledge of religious requirements, proper handling of animals, and hygienic practices is essentialØ Animal Welfare: o Ensure the well-being of animals intended for slaughter.o Animals should be treated humanely, kept in a stress-free environment, and handled with care to minimize distress. Ø Intention and Pronouncement: o The person performing the slaughter must have the intention (niyyah) to perform the act for the sake of Allah.o Pronounce the name of Allah (God) at the time of slaughtering, acknowledging the sacred nature of the process. Ø Slaughtering Method: o Use a sharp knife to make a swift and deep incision across the throat, windpipe, and blood vessels in the neck, ensuring a quick and humane death.o The spinal cord should remain intact to avoid causing injury to the nervous system, as this would render the meat unacceptable (haram) Ø Draining of Blood: o Allow the blood to drain out of the animal after slaughter.o Blood is considered non-halal and must be completely removed from the meat. Ø Supervision: o Ensure that the slaughter process is supervised by knowledgeable individuals who understand the religious requirements and are authorized to certify meat as halal. Ø Halal Certification: o Obtain and display Halal certification from reputable certifying bodies or authorities.o Compliance with established standards and regulations is crucial for consumer confidence.
