HOD: Manufacturing Support - Pretoria

PurposeTo provide leadership and strategic direction in order to achieve and sustain an integrated manufacturing planning, systems, processes, controls, and capacity in support of the manufacturing function of the South African Bank Note Company (SABN), for efficiency and reliability.Main Responsibilities (not limited to):• To provide strategic leadership that entails interpretation of the company strategy into objectives of the Manufacturing Support Department (MSD).• To compile a plan for manufacturing including annual order intake, raw materials planning, and maintenance, and produce an Integrated Master Plan.• To monitor variances from the Master Plan, identify deviances and recommend solutions accordingly.• To plan for both preventative and scheduled maintenance in alignment with the Production Plan and business strategy and ensure availability of machines for production.• To ensure adequate raw materials for production, compile inventory levels, monitor consumption and supply raw materials to the production process.• To report to the Executive Committee (EXCO) and the SABN Board on production performance including the improvements implemented and achieved.• To act as custodian of the manufacturing programme that entails a portfolio of related projects.• To identify risks within the manufacturing process, conduct severity assessment, report, and develop mitigation strategies.• To ensure compliance with legislative requirements, company policies and procedures.• To manage the performance and development of direct reports, ensure an effective performance management system encompassing all team members, and oversee career development of incumbents.The Ideal candidate is likely to have:• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ B. Eng OR relevant engineering degree• Master’s in Engineering would be an added advantage• Post graduate qualification in business management would be an added advantage• Theory of Constraints (TOC) Manufacturing Solutions/ LEAN/ Project management will be an added advantage.• 10 to 12 years’ experience in Production/Manufacturing with at least five (5) years in a senior management role.Knowledge and Skills:• General management• Security printing• Program and project management• Operations Management• Understanding fundamentals of TOC and/or LEAN• Continuous improvement principles and solutions• Risk management and compliance• Stakeholder management• Systems thinking• Design thinking• Relevant legislationInternal applicants should apply on the SABN careers portal on the intranet by uploading detailed CV’s and copies of qualifications.
