Industrial Designer in Ottery, Cape Town - Ottery
Requirements: A diploma or degree in Product Design/ Industrial Design with 5 years’ experience in industrial design or extensive experience in a relevant field (e.g., mechanical engineering) that demonstrably fulfils the requirements of an Industrial Design role. Lead CAD designer on two or more projects with injection moulded parts in currently in production. Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships at all levels and work effectively in a team. Ability to explain complex design concepts clearly and concisely. Ability to creatively solve problems and actively contribute to new product development projects. Ability to effectively understand the needs, concerns, and feedback of others. Willingness and competence to make decisions in the right direction that maintain and build momentum. Key deliverables of the role Concept development evaluation in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Engaging with manufacturing partners on costing, design for manufacture, design for assembly, quality control, troubleshooting, timescale management, etc. CAD model development. Commissioning and management of prototype manufacture. Prototype and product evaluation testing and troubleshooting. Presentations to internal and external stakeholders. Design for injection moulding, compression moulding, sheetmetal fabrication, etc.
