INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN - Kempton Park

We are looking for an Instrument Technician in Kempton Park You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of instrumentation throughout the entire Plant with full awareness of all safety and emergency measures. Primary objectives would include enhancing the overall performance of the station, maximizing plant availability in line with best operating and maintenance practices, and ensuring the integrity of areas under your jurisdiction. TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Matric or technical equivalent plus qualified Instrumentation Technician (Trade tested) with N4 PC Skills – Outlook, MS Word, Excel, MS Project, Maximo and AccPac Use of Test Equipment and Calibration Equipment Must be able to read electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic circuitry diagrams EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of 5 years Fossil Fuel Fired Power Plant or industrial plant experience Operation of calibration equipment Be acquainted with Plant Safety Regulations and Permit to Work system Electrical and Mechanical fault finding CORE FUNCTIONS: Establish & maintain a safe work environment Maintain the integrity of instrumentation throughout the entire Plant, and all other Plant and Auxiliaries Carry out routine inspections of instrumentation and control systems on all plant e.g. flow meters, temperature and pressure gauges, thermocouples, transmitters, pneumatic control equipment PLC’s and other equipment and report any defects, dangerous acts or occurrences and take relevant action Ensure routine inspections of Soot blowing equipment, Oil Plant System, Vacuum Systems, Steam, Pressure gauges, Flow Meters, Temperature gauges and other Indications are carried out in line with plant requirements Ensure the application of safety precautions to instrumentation and electrical apparatus Become authorised to take out permits in terms of KP Plant Safety Regulations within a reasonable period of time and ensure authorisation is maintained at all times. Ensure any defects, dangerous acts or occurrences are reported and take relevant action When requested to do so, assist the Department and Operations Managers in developing work scopes for planned and forced outages. Provide information and support for Capital Expenditure decision making process Understand commercial impact of potential projects and provide cost benefit analyses and feedback to teams Assist in developing and improving practices and procedures on an on-going basis in step with modern technology and experience gained Proactively analyse, diagnose and resolve Plant problems to minimise operational downtime or Plant disruption Apply Now
