IT Internship - - Johannesburg

Duties and responsibilities include:

Hardware

Configure, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and support existing computer workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices and other equipment;
Support user telephony;
Replace faulty hardware;
Configuration of new hardware.

Software

Install Operating systems per SRK standards;
Install M365 Software;
Assist in the installation of technical software as required by SBUs;
Configuring, support and updating of installed software;
Diagnose and resolve unique, nonrecurring problems associated with application software and operating systems.

Networking

Connecting PCs into AD;
Printer installation on PCs;
Making up of network cables;
Supporting LAN and Wi-Fi network issues when they arise.

R&D

Finding appropriate drivers and installation thereof;
Reading up on latest product and appropriate technical information.

General

Close out call logs timeously and efficiently;
Telephonic support to users;
Document procedures, configurations, settings, installation sequences and back-out instructions;
Mobility be willing to take on a new position at the company or accept additional responsibilities when required;
Ensure desktop computers connect seamlessly with associated systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers and administrative systems.

Backup & Restores

Loading of tapes in Illovo backup units when required by the Networks team.

Purchasing

Obtaining valid quotes for Capex and consumable requirements;
Ordering of equipment and Software in conjunction with the IT Manager;
Check equipment and software is procured and received correctly.

Invoicing

Check requisitions are issued correctly;
Submit invoices and requisitions to the IT Manager for approval;
Check that Invoicing is completed timeously.

Inventory / Assets

Maintain IT Asset inventory and align to Finances Asset register;
Manage consumable stock and maintain adequate safety stock of required consumables.

This role is intended to give the candidate experience in various aspects of IT and may be adjusted to ensure good exposure.

Candidates based in Johannesburg will be given preference. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
